Photos from the Kiwanis Club car show and BBQ-eating contest in Islip

|

Hot cars of all stripes descended on Islip Town Hall Sunday for a car show that helped raise money for local charities — all run by the Kiwanis Club of the Islips and Bay Shore.

The Red, White and Blue Car Show and Family Fun Day went from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Of course there were the classic cars, trucks and hotrods, but the day also featured live music, raffle contests and dozens of vendors.

There was even a Willie B’s pulled pork sandwich-eating contest.

The club’s president, Sandy Flandina, and co-chair Paul Cozzani called the 8th annual event in Islip a “resounding success.”

“We are now able to support many charitable causes with the proceeds generated,” said Flandina. “Our club is thankful to all who participated and donated to our event. Great job again by fellow community members!”

The Kiwanis Club will soon be presenting much-needed funds to the NF Children’s Tumor Foundation, the Makenzie Cadmus “Rock the Socks” Foundation and U.S. veterans causes.

The club is still tallying how much money was raised.
