Dang BBQ of Islip hits the road with its brand-new food truck

|

Dang! That’s the smell of barbecue on the highway.

Dang BBQ of Islip has just launched its own food truck. And according to owner Anthony Mastrantonio, its one of the few barbecue trucks on Long Island.

He and the Dang team saw a real need for it, as the staff was getting calls from brides-to-be and others inquiring about trucking their meats out east and beyond.

The Dang BBQ truck made its official debut at Seatuck’s Eco-Carnival last month, where the staff raised $3,000 for the environmental association in Islip.

The thing is a rolling barbecue restaurant.

It’s got grills, deep fryers. We can do the classics like our brisket and bacon empanadas, our chicken bacon ranch cheese fries, as well as our pulled pork, chicken and brisket sandwiches,” said Mastrantonio, who smokes the meats at his restaurant.

Of course, they’ll also do the burgers and hot dogs.

There’s also a smoker on the truck to keep the meat at-temperature.

“This is a big thing going on right now,” with the food trucks, he said. “People are getting married out in the vineyards and farms and bringing in trucks like ours and putting parties together that way. So we definitely saw a demand for it.”

Look for the truck at various festivals and concerts this summer into the fall.

When it’s not on the circuit, the Dang BBQ truck is serving food Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. outside SimPlay, a sports simulation and banquet center at 180 Commerce Drive in Hauppauge’s industrial park.
