east-islipEast Islip High School twin track stars Jackie and Katie Ginty will be running track for LIU Post in the fall.

The twins each signed a National Letter of Intent on Dec. 14, the district announced Tuesday.

They were a major component in East Islip’s girls spring track team finishing the 2016 season with an undefeated 6-0 record and winning its first league title since 2008.

In the championships, the Gintys finished first and second in the 100-meter dash at every meet, and first and second in the 200-meter at every meet save one, according to the district. The sisters were also part of the undefeated 4×100-meter relay team, and Jackie competed in the long jump.

“The athletic department and team were very welcoming to us,” said Katie. “We also fell in love with the campus.”

They both plan to major in education at Post, located in Brookville.

The pair have excelled for the Lady Redmen since their freshman year, when both earned All-County honors as part of the 4×100-meter relay team, breaking their own school record at the Suffolk County championship finals, according to the district.
