Good Samaritan Hospital’s first baby of the new year, Sarah Isabella Carbajal-Rodriguez, arrived at 12:58 a.m. on Jan. 1 in West Islip.
She was delivered by Dr. Aaron David, weighing six pounds, eight ounces, and measuring just over 19 inches long.
Sarah’s arrival marks the first child for her Freeport parents, Wilmer and Dalia, according to a hospital announcement.
To mark the year’s first delivery, Good Samaritan treated the Carbajal-Rodriguez family to a private, complimentary room and a gift basket with clothing and accessories provided by Bubble in Babylon.
A complimentary room was also offered to the family that delivered the first baby boy at Good Samaritan.
About 2,800 babies are delivered each year at Good Sam.
