Prominent Brightwaters spot all primed for a café or luncheonette

|

Calling all Chefs: Here’s a chance to open your restaurant in Brightwaters.

This vacant storefront at the corner of North Windsor Avenue and Orinoco Drive once housed Brightwaters Hardware.

It’s a prominent location at the busiest intersection in Brightwaters Village, and it’s sparked the interest of a number of potential tenants, including a clothing retailer and a yoga studio.

But building owner Rocco Alessandro is hoping that the spot will catch the eye of an enterprising restaurateur.  (Visit the listing online.)

Alessandro and his daughter Teresa have taken the necessary steps to make this happen. The spot is now properly zoned for a food establishment.

“We’ve been working with the Village of Brightwaters to get a change of use variance, which was granted,” she said.

The father and daughter team have owned the building “for a couple of years” according to the younger Alessandro.

She thinks that the spot is perfect for a café or a luncheonette, maybe even a French bistro.

“We love the family-friendly atmosphere of Brightwaters,” she said. “We think a café would contribute to the cute, homey feel of the area.”

The village is currently home to two other sit-down restaurants.

Sea Levels, which serves steaks, pasta, burgers, and seafood (of course!), has been a community staple since 2006, according to the restaurant’s website.

Nearby Mamma Santina offers brick oven pizza and various Italian specialties.

The empty storefront is a corner unit of a building that runs along North Windsor Avenue. The building is also home to the new Dulche de Leche Cake Shop, Caputo’s Gifts, Brightwater Dry Cleaner and a Chinese food take-out.
