Inside the massive new Main Event before it opens in Deer Park

Long Island’s newest mega-entertainment destination is almost ready to open its doors.

Greater Long Island got a sneak peek inside Main Event at Tanger Deer Park ahead of its May 18 grand opening — and the nearly 62,000-square-foot venue is packed wall-to-wall with games, attractions, food and family-friendly fun.

“There’s a limited amount of places for kids to have this much fun under one roof on Long Island,” Main Event sales manager Karen Kelly told Greater Long Island. “Between bowling, laser tag and all these interactive games, there’s really something for everyone.”

Among the attractions are a multiplayer Stranger Things arcade game, Escape the Lava HyperGrid, Fast & Furious racing simulators and Top Gun Maverick, which puts players behind the controls of an F-18 Super Hornet.

The Texas-based chain — owned by Dave & Buster’s — is opening its first New York location in the former Christmas Tree Shops and later Wayfair space at Tanger Outlets.

At nearly 15,000 square feet larger than the Dave & Buster’s location in Westbury, the sprawling entertainment center also features three large party rooms designed for everything from bar and bat mitzvahs to Sweet 16s, corporate gatherings and adult parties.

“There’s been a lot of buzz on social media about this place,” Kelly said. “A lot of people are intrigued.”

The venue also includes a full-service restaurant and bar.

Kelly noted that one question she frequently gets is whether Main Event is connected to the restaurants of the same name in Farmingdale and Bethpage.

It is not. Those restaurants are privately owned and unaffiliated with the national entertainment chain.

Main Event first opened in Lewisville, Texas, in 1998 and now operates more than 60 locations nationwide. Dave & Buster’s acquired the company in 2022.

Opening day is scheduled for May 18.
