Homicide detectives are investigating a fatal stabbing in Massapequa after police responded to a 911 call early Monday, according to cops and a report.
Nassau Police said Seventh Precinct officers were called to a Massapequa residence about 1:30 a.m. The home is on Beaumont Avenue, which has remained closed to traffic between Dover and Polo roads for much of the day, according to multiple reports.
Sources told ABC7 Eyewitness News that a person was found fatally stabbed in the neck overnight. A woman allegedly fled the scene, which is about a half-mile from Massapequa High School, the outlet reported.
Neighbor Janine Cassarino told Eyewitness News the commotion escalated quickly.
“I was panicking. It was definitely something large. There was a lot going on and then once the helicopter showed up I knew that’s never a good thing,” she said.
Police have only made a brief statement about the investigation, with few details. The victim’s identity has not been released.
