Connecticut woman charged with luring Suffolk County boy, 13, she met online

A Connecticut woman struck up a relationship with a 13-year-old Long Island boy on Discord, swapped explicit photos with him, then picked him up and drove him to her house — and tried to have sex with him once he got there, federal authorities said.

Amy Colon, 31, who identified herself online as “Alice,” allegedly struck up the relationship through the Discord app, a chat and voice platform popular with teens and gamers that has increasingly drawn scrutiny from federal investigators over its use to exploit children.

Prosecutors said the conversations between Colon and the teen turned sexually explicit, and that Colon coerced the minor into sending her an explicit video of himself.

In return, she allegedly sent pornographic images and videos of herself to him.

The Wethersfield, Connecticut, woman was arrested on a federal criminal complaint, according to David Sullivan, U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut, and P.J. O’Brien, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s New Haven Division.

Prosecutors said that on June 26, Colon drove to Suffolk County, picked up the boy and brought him back to her Connecticut home, where she attempted to engage in sexual activity with him. She drove him back to Long Island the following day, dropping him off several blocks from his home, according to the criminal complaint.

Colon is charged with attempted coercion and enticement of a minor and transportation of a minor to engage in sexual activity. Each charge carries a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life.
