Motorcyclist seriously injured after slamming into rear of SUV in Bay Shore

A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries Wednesday night when his dirt bike crashed into the back of an SUV that was stopped in traffic in Bay Shore, police said.

Vincent McKie, 45, of Bay Shore was riding a Suzuki DRZ south in front of 1383 Brentwood Road about 9:15 p.m. when he struck the right rear of a 2025 Acura RDX that had stopped in traffic, Suffolk Police reported.

McKie, who was ejected from the bike, was rushed to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore. The Acura driver, 26-year-old Bay Shore resident Gerson Rivas Varela, 26, was not hurt, police said.

Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating the crash. Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
