A woman was struck and killed while crossing Route 110 in East Farmingdale Saturday night, Suffolk County police said.
The woman was walking westbound across Route 110 at the intersection of Conklin Street around 8:30 p.m. when she was hit by a southbound 2011 Hyundai Sonata, police said. Authorities further confirmed that the woman was crossing the roadway where there is no crosswalk and stepped in front of the vehicle.
She was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, where she was pronounced dead, cops said. Her name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of the Hyundai, Xavier Thomas, 30, of Farmingdale, was not injured.
Suffolk Police First Squad detectives are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call the First Squad at 631.854.8152.
