New Nesconset coffee bar serves up financial literacy with every cup

|

A new coffee bar in Nesconset is serving up organic coffee and pastries with a side of financial literacy.

Causes For Kids, a Long Island-based nonprofit focused on business and financial education for young people, has opened its new Coffee Bar & Learning Center at 260 Smithtown Blvd., Suite 9A, according to a press announcement.

The coffee bar is open to the public, with proceeds helping fund the nonprofit’s educational programs, resources and community outreach.

But the space is also designed to serve as a hands-on learning environment where young people can gain experience in real-world business operations, customer service, communication, entrepreneurship and workforce readiness.

Founded by Aleta Love, Causes For Kids offers programs covering money management, budgeting, financial planning, entrepreneurship, communication and career readiness. The organization works with schools, libraries, businesses, churches, advocacy groups and organizations serving people with disabilities, the announcement reads.

Causes For Kids is also launching a financial literacy podcast hosted by Love featuring conversations with local entrepreneurs, business leaders and other professionals about money, careers, entrepreneurship and leadership.
