LongHorn Steakhouse is coming to the former Bahama Breeze space at Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove, a mall representative confirmed to Greater Long Island.
The steakhouse will occupy the standalone restaurant site at the southern end of the mall property, fronting Middle Country Road.
Mike Marti, a spokesperson for the mall, confirmed the plans in an Oct. 28 email.
An estimated opening date has not been announced.
The incoming restaurant shares a parent company with its predecessor. Orlando-based Darden Restaurants owns LongHorn Steakhouse and Bahama Breeze, along with Olive Garden, Yard House, The Capital Grille and Ruthโs Chris Steak House, among other brands.
Bahama Breeze closed its Smith Haven Mall restaurant in May 2025, ending the Caribbean-themed chainโs presence on Long Island. Its only Island location had operated on the mall property for more than a decade, as Greater Long Island previously reported.
The closure preceded a broader retreat from the Bahama Breeze brand. In February 2026, Darden announced plans to permanently close 14 other remaining restaurants as well, and convert another 14 to other brands in its portfolio.
The Lake Grove restaurant, which had already closed, was not among the locations listed in that announcement.
LongHorn Steakhouse already operates on Long Island at 1000 Broad Hollow Road in Farmingdale.
