Southampton Town Police remain on the hunt for the driver who struck a man on North Road in Hampton Bays early Sunday and drove off, leaving him unconscious and bleeding in the roadway.

Police said Wednesday the vehicle is a dark blue 2013 to 2017 Nissan Sentra or a similar car — with damage likely on the front end and the passenger side.

Police got a call at about 4:20 a.m. Sunday reporting a man lying in the road on North Road, across from the eastbound entrance ramp to Sunrise Highway near Canal Road. Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance members treated the man at the scene before he was flown by helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said.

The man is now in stable condition, according to police, who did not release his name or age.

North Road was closed for about four hours while detectives investigated the collision.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Southampton Town Police Detective Division at 631.702.2230 or 631.728.3400.
