The Harborfront Park outdoor rink hours of operation are as follows:
- Mon.-Thurs. 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- Fri. 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Sat. 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Sun. 10 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.
Tom Palamara, owner of The Rinx, said he is happy to give the community something to do during the chilly, winter months.
“It’s a good feeling to try to give people something fun to do,” Palamara said. “I feel like people have been cooped up and had no a lot to do, so this is a good activity to do at a time like this.”
This is the 12th straight year The Rinx has operated the outdoor rink in Port Jefferson.
The owners said several protocols will be put in place to keep skaters safe, such as temperature checks and limited capacity on the rink.
Skaters must sign up for a spot and buy tickets ahead of time on The Rinx website.
“It’s definitely a little different from the walk-in and skate attitude to now it has to be a little more pre-planned,” Palamara said.
“The view is great, the atmosphere is great, so it’s a nice thing to do in the wintertime and hopefully people take advantage of it.”
