Sneaker store associate turned YouTube sensation Joe La Puma was invited back to his alma mater (Bay Shore, Class of 2001) last week to talk to current students about crushing it in the real world.
There, the SVP of Content for Complex in NYC also surprised lucky teens with brand-new Nikes courtesy of Finish Line in Bay Shore, where La Puma worked for years before blowing up.
Through Complex, La Puma hosts the wildly successful sneaker show on YouTube called Sneaker Shopping with Complex, which is now being syndicated through MSG Networks.
He was invited back to Bay Shore as part of the high school’s “Breakfast of Champions” guest series, though which 13 students get nominated by teachers to attend.
“It was a really special to be back,” La Puma told GreaterBayShore. “After the breakfast I surprised the kids with brand new Nike Air Max 270s that Finish Line donated for me.”
“I want to work with the high school on a number of projects going forward,” he added.
