One Good Samaritan is trying to ease the pain of an East Islip family who is reeling from a tragedy.
Over the weekend, 19-year-old Chris Werth was killed in a motorcycle accident after losing control of a 2015 Kawasaki on Heckscher State Parkway.
To help pay for the funeral expenses, a GoFundMe page was set up by fellow East Islip resident James Lopiccolo.
“I’m raising money for Chris’ family for funeral arrangements,” wrote Lopiccolo. “Chris was one of the funniest people I have ever met and had such a contagious spirit.
“Anything can help in this tragic time, thank you.”
After posting the campaign on Sunday, it only took one day to exceed’s Lopiccolo’s goal of $5,000. Over 150 people contributed to the campaign, raising $10,610.
