Yankees add West Islip’s Nicholas Tropeano

|

The New York Yankees are looking to bolster the team’s pitching for next season.

First, they signed All-Star right-hander Gerrit Cole to a massive contract in December, and now they inked West Islip’s Nicholas Tropeano to a minor-league deal on Wednesday

Tropeano, a 29-year-old right-hander, was drafted in the fifth round by the Astros in 2013.

In his career, the Stony Brook University alum found success in the MLB going 12-14 as a starter for the Astros and, more recently, the Los Angeles Angles organizations.

During that time, he tossed 193 strikeouts with 87 walks in 42 career games.

Last year, he pitched in three games for the Angels, notching 10 strikeouts and six walks in 13 2/3 innings.
