Four Long Island breweries are joining with Seas Cartography for a beer collaboration fundraiser in support of the Fire Island Lighthouse Preservation Society.
The Light-Haus Keeper’s Craft IPA is brewed using all New York-based ingredients — the malt is from upstate New York and the hops were grown at Craft Master Hops in Mattituck.
The participating breweries are 27a Brewing Company., Destination Unknown Beer Company., Secatogue Brewing Company and Spiderbite Beer Company.
“It’s a locally sourced beer, it’s a little on the ‘hop-y’ side, so it’s a little bit fruitier, and it’s eight percent, so it’s a little bit on the stronger side as well, but it’s a little bit more of a drinkable IPA,” said Corey Stanton, co-founder of Sea Cartography. “It’s very, very tasty. It’s a good beer.”
Stanton said last year they held a beer-tasting fundraiser at the lighthouse, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic, they weren’t able to hold the event in-person this year.
So, like many other businesses across the island, Stanton and his team had to get creative and decided to partner up with the four breweries.
“We went to a few of the local breweries from last year and asked them if they would be able to collab together, brew a beer together, sell that beer, and then donate the proceeds of those beer sales to the Fire Island Lighthouse Preservation Society,” Stanton said.
The fundraiser started two weeks ago on Oct. 21 and it will continue until the beer runs out at all four locations.
So far, Secatogue Brewing in West Islip is all sold out.

Before selling them at the breweries, Seas Cartography offered a pre-sale on their website where patrons could pre-reserve the beer online, as well as receive a free voucher to tour the lighthouse and a free Keepers Craft Koozie to go with the beer.
Seas Cartography also held a virtual silent-auction event and sold merchandise to raise funds for the lighthouse as well.
Stanton said they are going to start selling the beer at a few local restaurants as well, which includes both Swell Taco locations in Babylon and Patchogue, Tullulah’s in Bay Shore, Great South Bar in Patchogue, and the Sayville Athletic Club.
The organizer said the event-planning company works with a lot of nonprofit organizations to put together fundraisers.
He said it has been difficult for these groups during this time, so it feels good to be able to give back to a Long Island staple like the Fire Island Lighthouse.
“We were happy we were able to come up with a different route in doing this event this year, and still be able to keep it running, raise funds for them, and keep everything going, and give people something to do at the same time,” Stanton said.
