Family-run Fair Trade Market opens in Islip Terrace

|

Fair Trade Market is now open in Islip Terrace.

Business partners Mazen Alromhein and Danny Hamdan opened the supermarket Dec. 18 at 876 Connetquot Avenue, with the hopes of becoming the go-to neighborhood spot for groceries.

Hamdan said he and his family are experienced in the supermarket business, owning six others across New Jersey, Staten Island, and Brooklyn. Alromhein has been in the wholesale business.

Being a family-owned, Hamdan said, creates a unique experience that helps differentiate the Fair Trade location from a CVS or Stop & Shop.

The owners are also working on setting up an InstaCart and delivery services, so customers have the option to order items online.

They aim to have that set up next month.

“We’re just really happy to be a part of the community, and we’re looking to grow with the community,” Hamdan said. “Every
