Sunday marked a special day in the Long Island pageantry world, as the region’s newest queens were crowned Miss Long Island and Miss Long Island Teen.
The incoming Miss Long Island 2016 is Hayley Riesel, 23, of Oceanside.
The Miss Long Island Teen 2016 crown went to Brooke Demetri, 16, of Glen Head.
This marked the first year that two former Long Island queens, Jessi (Ricco) Simeone and Sabrina Mastrangelo took over running the pageants as co-directors through their company, Ultimate Crown Productions, Inc.
“Sunday night proved to be a great culmination for all the hard work throughout the year,” Simeone said. “It ended with the crowning of two very special and beautiful girls who will go on to represent Long Island for the next year. Sabrina and I are excited to see what the future holds for Hayley and Brooke.”
The Miss Long Island pageants are held annually at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts.
