What started in a small space in lower New York City just four years ago has quickly grown into a multi-restaurant franchise operation with locations across the U.S.
Three more Virgola Oysters & Italian Wine Bar spots are in the works.
And on that list is Patchogue Village.
“I’m proud of how the concept travels so well,” said Virgola founder Joseph Marazzo, a longtime NYC restaurateur and Long Island native. “What I created in New York City has turned into something people truly love in other places now that include Florida, Oklahoma and North Carolina.”

The Patchogue location is locally owned (check back for more on that), and plans are underway for space at 7 Village Green, which is in the heart of the New Village at Patchogue retail and apartment complex.
The Virgola team is shooting for a springtime opening.
Since first opening in 2013, Virgola has been written up by The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Thrillest, The Village Voice and other publications regional and national publications.
All the Virgola locations specialize in Italian wine, oysters, crudo, caviar and ceviche. The menu also includes specialty Italian meats and cheeses, as well as salads (more food pics below)
The wine list is highlighted by The Virgola Collection of five offerings, all made exclusively for Virgola at Italian vineyards.
Marazzo said the concept hasn’t changed much from what was happening at the original location, described by The New Yorker as “the most romantic bar to open in the West Village since Gottino.”
“We just grew into bigger spaces,” he said.
He attributes the company’s success to the experience Virgola provides to guests.
“It’s very dark and elegant in design, like a romantic date night sort of place — with a simple, clean and consistent menu,” he said.
