Nowadays, when BuzzFeed reports, Americans listen.
And this week, the global news and entertainment platform named Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse in Bellport as among the Top 25 haunted houses in America “that will scare the crap out of you.”
In describing the haunted house on South Country Road, Buzzfeed relied entirely, and probably very randomly, on Yelp user Chris C. of Freeport, who gave the place five stars.
“Best haunted house I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to nearly every one on Long Island and NYC,” Chris C. wrote on Oct. 19, 2014. “Year after year they never cease to scare me and the 45-minute walkthrough is one of the longest. $25 is worth every penny, trust me.”
Reached for comment about making BuzzFeed’s big list, Gateway’s executive artistic director, Paul Allan, hinted at big plans for 2016’s installment.
“We all work so hard to raise the bar, and feel our haunt was off the charts last year!” he said. “It’s awesome to be recognized by Buzzfeed as one of the Top 25 haunts in the country, but more is coming. Just wait till this year …”
Gateway’s Haunted Playhouse returns for its eighth season this year and the season kicks off Friday, Sept. 23, and run through Halloween on Oct. 31.
