Two people were arrested Monday after a man died following a fight at a Shirley home Sunday night, Suffolk Police said.

A resident of a home on Hounslow Road called 911 about 7:30 p.m. Sunday to report a fight involving a man who rents a room at the house.

Officers arrived to find 48-year-old Christopher Martin, seriously injured.

Martin was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk in Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead.

Homicide Squad detectives on Monday arrested Korey Sammarco, 36, who lives at the Shirley home, and Melissa Fawcett, 50, of Central Islip. Both were charged with first-degree gang assault.

Sammarco was held overnight at Suffolk Police’s Third Precinct and Fawcett at the Fourth Precinct. Both are scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at Suffolk County First District Court in Central Islip.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Homicide Squad at 631.852.6392.
