Over 1,000 locals came and cheered for first responders, the Grinch and ol’ Saint Nick Sunday night at the Center Moriches Fire Department’s holiday parade of lights.
From Lake Avenue to Ocean Avenue, firetrucks and ambulances decked out in lights drove down Main St. In between were marching bands, first responders, decorated floats and the Grinch.
The best was perhaps saved for last, as Santa Claus brought up the rear. Brookhaven Town Deputy Supervisor Dan Panico, who attended with his son, Grant, said their interaction with Santa was his favorite part of the evening.
“It’s about seeing so many people in the community with their smiling faces,” Panico said. “This is what Christmas is all about, family and happiness.”
