From the state DOT:
Motorists should expect lane closures for bridge repair work on Suffolk County County Route 34/Deer Park Avenue over NYS Route 27/Sunrise Highway in the Town of Babylon, Suffolk County.
There will be lane closures on Deer Park Avenue to install temporary concrete barrier on Thursday, March 29, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Following the installation of the temporary concrete barrier, there will be sporadic one lane closures in each direction on Deer Park Avenue weekdays between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
At this location, concrete deck repairs will be performed to replace armored joints with armor less joints and link slabs. In addition, the roadway will be repaved and restriped along with the installation of pedestrian fencing and bridge railing. Work on this bridge is expected to be completed in the summer of 2018.
Variable message signs in the area will provide information about these closures.
This work is part of a $13.5 million New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) project to extend the service lives and maintain the structural integrity of six bridges in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
NYSDOT appreciates the patience and cooperation of motorists and the local community while this project is undertaken to help assure the continued protection of all motorists.
Motorists are reminded to drive carefully through work zones, obey any speed restrictions that may be in place, and the instructions of the flag persons for their safety and the safety of the highway work crew. As with most road and bridge projects, work may be cancelled, postponed, or prolonged due to inclement weather.
