ITA Kitchen and its modern Italian cuisine are set to expand west this fall.
The restaurant — which has become a local favorite since opening three years ago on Bay Shore’s Main Street — announced they are launching a second ITA Kitchen, this one in Garden City at the old Anthony’s Lucky Duck Italian Restaurant space located at 9 Nassau Blvd.
Anthony’s Lucky Duck closed last month after 33 years of operation.
“The iconic Anthony’s Lucky Duck Italian Restaurant served family gatherings and celebrations for many years in Garden City South and the surrounding neighborhoods,” the ITA Kitchen team stated in their announcement. “We tip our hats off to them and their many years of success.”
Owners Salvatore and Christina Sorrentino took over the former Gino’s Pizzeria at 45 West Main St. in Bay Shore in 2019 after a five-year search for the perfect spot.
The Huntington couple wanted to come to the South Shore hamlet because they felt the area was lacking when it came to Italian sit-down dining options.
ITA Kitchen (ITA is short for Italian American) is chef Sal’s modern take on Italian cuisine.
Using his over 20 years of experience in the restaurant game, Sorrentino’s eclectic menu is made up of a number of creative dishes, such as pesto risotto balls; chicken burrata Caprese; four-cheese mac and cheese; meatballs the “size of softballs” filled with veal; and homemade ricotta gnocchi.
