We probably would’ve written about high school golfer Jacob Petelin’s recent hole-in-one if it was his first one.
But a third career hole-in-one? That’s a feat that calls for some serious recognition.
The Islip High School senior and varsity golfer started the school year and season with a bang, recording his latest hole-in-one on Sept. 3 at Timber Point Golf Course. The shot took place on the second hole of the White Course.
“I took out my pitching wedge on the 132-yard par 3,” Petelin said. “I wanted to flight the ball left of the pin and have it roll down. I got my line, struck it perfectly, and was shocked when it disappeared into the hole.”
Timber Point, a scenic course nestled along the Great South Bay, is known for its challenging layout. It’s no small feat to drop an ace on any of its courses, making Petelin’s shot all the more impressive.
