Costco is adding more hours, including just for Executive Members

|

If you haven’t been to Costco lately, it’s bursting at the seams.

And not just on weekends. In this work-from-home era, more shoppers than ever have (somehow) found time to slip away to the club.

But if you’ve eschewed that Executive Membership, the black card that employees have been pushing on you (maybe you don’t spend enough for cash-back rewards to outweigh the $130 annual cost), you might want to think again.

Costco informed employees earlier this month that big changes are coming June 30.

“We are going to add shopping hours in U.S. warehouses that are exclusive for Executive Members,” reads an internal memo acquired by Greater Long Island and dated June 9. (Costco has since made the announcement publicly.)

Costcos in the U.S. will also start staying open an additional hour on Saturday, for all shoppers, and close at 7 p.m.

The changes start Monday, June 30, and are as followed:

For Executive Members:

Here are the exclusive hours for Executive Members, according to the June 9 memo:

  • Weekdays: 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • Saturdays: 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
  • Sundays: 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

“Our decision to make this change has come after considerable thought and evaluation,” the memo reads. “We realize that any change can have impacts, but we believe this particular change is the right thing to do for our business … Our volumes have reached levels in many of our warehouses that we need the relief of additional shopping hours for our members and employees.”‘
