Suffolk County just hosted its first-ever oyster festival at Smith Point County Park.
The Oyster Jamboree kicked off Saturday, Aug. 16, with a ceremonial oyster shuck at 1 p.m. The event featured only Long Island oyster harvesters to spotlight the local industry, which carries an estimated $16.5 million impact on the county’s economy. In 2024 alone, about 10 million oysters were harvested in Suffolk waters.
The festival offered oyster tastings, other seafood bites, beer and wine, plus family-friendly games.
