A Suffolk County Police officer and paramedics from the Stony Brook Fire Department helped deliver a baby boy Tuesday night during an emergency birth in a Stony Brook home, police said.
Sixth Precinct Officer Brian Granata responded just before 10 p.m. to a 911 call reporting a woman in labor at a Parish Court residence, police said.
When Granata arrived at the home, 37-year-old Stephanie Hollander was actively in labor in a hallway. Granata helped responding paramedics from the Stony Brook Fire Department, and the newborn was delivered safely at 10:16 p.m.
Hollander and her baby son were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where they are in good condition, police said.
