Two men lure Roosevelt girl on social media, assault her at preserve

|

Nassau cops arrested two men in connection with the rape of a Roosevelt girl in Roosevelt, accusing the men of pursuing the girl on social media and then persuading her in-person to use a marijuana vape device, police said.

Special Victims detectives said the alleged assault occurred on Sept. 6 after the men — Oscar Rivera Marquez, 20, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, and 29-year-old Ever Antonio Iraheta-Mira of Franklin Square — arranged to meet the girl at the Roosevelt Preserve near Brooklyn Avenue and Frederick Avenue.

During the meet-up at the preserve, the men assaulted the victim. Both men are charged with two counts of first-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child.

At his arraignment Friday, Rivera Marquez pleaded not guilty. Bail was set at $1 million cash, $2.5 million insured bond, or $5 million partially secured surety bond.

Iraheta-Mira also pleaded not guilty. His bail was set at $1 million cash, $2 million insured bond, or $10 million partially secured surety bond.

Rivera Marquez was previously arrested and charged with third-degree assault in February 2025, eventually pleading guilty in that case. He has yet to be sentenced for the crime.

Detectives are asking anyone who believes they may have been the victim of a similar crime to contact Nassau County Special Victims at 516.573.4022.
