A Latte Fun opens bigger, bolder second LI spot in Hauppauge

|

There’s now double the fun — and space — at A Latte Fun, which just opened its second Long Island location at 90 Adams Ave. in Hauppauge.

The new indoor play café combines handcrafted coffee drinks for adults with a safe, interactive play space for kids ranging from crawlers to about age 10. The Hauppauge location is twice the size of the original and features three distinct play zones, a birthday party area and parent-and-me classes that are coming soon.

“This space is great for all ages,” said owner Teresa Gabriel, of Commack. “We have imaginative play, sensory play. They can get their imaginations going and then climb and get their energy out.”

Gabriel opened the original Huntington Station location at 568 E. Jericho Turnpike in 2019.

A former New York City school teacher, she came up with the concept after becoming a stay-at-home mom.

“I wanted to make a place to get the moms out,” she said. “I wanted to make mom friends and it was so hard to vibe. We needed a place where moms felt comfortable to go out by themselves and start to chat with other people.”

Now a mother of three, Gabriel said it felt like the right time for the business to grow with her family.

“We’ve been in Huntington for five years now and it’s been crazy,” she said. “I felt we needed to see what was next and have it grow along with my own kids.”

What’s inside

The new location — a former bank that sat vacant — includes:

  • A baby-friendly zone in the back with age-appropriate toys and sensory activities
  • An indoor adventure park with slides, climbing features and a foam pit
  • A mini village complete with a playhouse, café, supermarket and merry-go-round

While the play features vary slightly from the Huntington location, the concept remains the same: a relaxing café for parents and caretakers to grab a coffee, tea, matcha or latte while their kids play.

They also serve snacks, baked goods and a small menu of hot food items designed with kids in mind — like chicken nuggets and personal pizzas.

“As a mom of three, I designed it around them,” Gabriel said. “Then there’s coffee for the parents which is essential in my life.”

Now open

Gabriel signed the lease in August 2024 and spent months gutting and transforming the space. The Hauppauge location officially opened this week.

“Hauppauge is a really good community and now we’re able to accommodate more kids,” she said.

A Latte Fun is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offers three open play sessions daily: 10 a.m. to noon, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. and 3 to 5 p.m. Reservations can be made online.

The business is woman-owned, military-owned and family-owned, and Gabriel said she’s excited to see where this next chapter takes her.

“I started this with my family from the ground up,” she said.
