Patchogue’s St. Patrick’s Parade starts at noon Sunday as planned

|

Despite some snow predictions, the annual St. Patrick’s Parade and “May the Road Rise to Meet Ye” 5K will go ahead starting at 11:55 a.m. on Main Street Sunday.

The parade organizers huddled at the Brickhouse Brewery at noon today, Saturday, to talk plans — considering a forecast that called for morning snow and rain.

“We are good to go as advertised,” reported David Kennedy, the executive director of the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce.

The 5K starts at 11:55 a.m. and the parade immediately follows, starting at Route 112 and East Main Street at noon and ending at West Avenue.

Local lawyer Tom Keegan, who founded the parade 20 years ago and has run it ever since, is this year’s grand marshal. The Greater Patchogue Foundation’s Cultural Heritage Committee selected Keegan, who was also an original owner of the BrickHouse Brewery.

He’s also a founding partner of Keegan & Keegan; Ross & Rosner.
