Shake Shack is planning to open a new location inside Selden’s Westfield Center, Brookhaven Town records indicate.
The town board has scheduled a public hearing for Thursday, April 25, regarding the proposed 3,400-square-foot drive-thru hamburger and ice cream shake joint. A space with 70 indoor seats and 30 outside is under consideration.
Westfield Center is located on the corner of Blue Point and Middle Country roads. The shopping center currently houses an Aldi supermarket, Carvel, and more.
This will be one of the first Shake Shack locations with a drive-thru in New York. In 2021, the company began opening drive-thru locations, with currently 32 operating in the U.S. and two more internationally (Al Barsha, UAE & Querétaro, Mexico), a spokesperson for Shake Shack told GLI.
The proposed restaurant has received a stamp of approval from the Selden Civic Association Board. In its application with the town, the developers included a letter from the association’s president.
“Your comprehensive plans for this property located on the corner of Blue Point Road and Middle Country Road in Selden were well-received and the community was pleased with all the answers you provided to their questions,” Selden Civic Association President Linda Miller wrote in a letter dated in March.
“We look forward to this project and welcome Shake Shack to our community,” she added.
Shake Shack anticipates the Selden location to open sometime in 2025, a Shake Shack spokesperson confirmed.
In Suffolk County, Shake Shack has restaurants in Lake Grove and Melville. The chain also has several locations in Nassau County.
Shake Shack Inc. owns and operates over 400 locations globally.
