A Stroll for Safety bar crawl planned in Patchogue for Sexual Assault Awareness Month

|

A night dedicated to bringing more attention toward Sexual Assault Awareness Month (April) is coming to Patchogue Village.

The team behind the Long Island Safer Bars Initiative—a program that educates bar staff and security on how to identify potential violence and sexual abuse— is organizing a Stroll for Saftey Bar Crawl in the downtown.

The crawl, set for Saturday, April 13, will feature five different restaurant/bars: Fulton’s Gate, Village Idiot Pub, Flo’s, That Meetball Place, and Public House 49.

“This event is in honor of sexual assault awareness month and each location will have a teal drink in support of the color that symbolizes this month,” said Nicole Keller of The Retreat, which runs the Long Island Safer Bars Initiative.

There will also be a contest for the best dressed in teal with prizes.

In addition to The Retreat, the event is sponsored by the non-profit’s The Safe Center LI and L.I. Against Domestic Violence.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door with participants receiving a t-shirt. To purchase tickets online, click here.
