Adventureland in Farmingdale will open for the 2026 season on Friday, March 20, bringing new rides, games and park improvements as part of a multi-year redevelopment project.
The upgrades are part of a five-phase, $15 million overhaul that began in 2024 at the longtime Long Island amusement park, which first opened in 1962.
Among the biggest additions this year is The Ram, a pirate-ship style ride replacing Moon Chaser (picturd) in a newly developed section of the park known as Legacy Corner.
“We know the pirate ship was a fan favorite,” Adventureland manager Jeanine Gentile said. “We’re excited and happy to bring something similar back.”
Gentile said the ride was chosen in part because it has a lower height requirement, allowing more families to ride together.

“The pirate ship has a lower height requirement of 48 inches to ride alone, so it can accommodate younger and smaller guests,” she said. “That’s really what Adventureland is about as a park.”
Another major addition coming later this spring is Wave Twister, a spinning flat ride manufactured by Ride Engineers Switzerland. The attraction features two gondolas that spin 360 degrees while traveling along a track that reaches heights of about 60 feet.
Despite its name, there’s no water involved. Riders must be at least 36 inches tall with an adult or 48 inches to ride alone.
Both rides are located in the new Legacy Corner area, which also includes a concession stand called Legacy Bites, seating areas, two new Midway games — Jungle Run and Wave Blaster — and upgraded restrooms.
“With the food, tables, landscaping, rides and new games, it’s going to be a really exciting part of the park,” Gentile said.
Adventureland is also installing a new carousel this season.
The updated ride will resemble the original but will feature new animals, including pandas and tigers, alongside the traditional horses. The second level is expected to operate, and the carousel will be wheelchair accessible.
The park’s improvements also come with a slight price increase this year. General admission for guests ages 2 to 24 will increase from $49.50 to $51.50. Admission for guests 25 and older will remain $39.50. Parking is still free.
Through May, Adventureland will open at 11 a.m. on weekends, with additional weekday openings during spring break from April 6 to April 10 and on select days in May. Expanded hours begin in June.
