The opponentsĀ change but the outcome remains the same for Alex Vargas.
The Bellporter improved to a perfect 3-0 while earning his fight career knockout on Friday night’sĀ Joe DeGuardiaās StarĀ BoxingĀ āRockinā Fightsā34Ā fight card atĀ The ParamountĀ of Huntington.
His fight against 35-year-oldĀ Benjamin BorteyeĀ (4-5) lasted two rounds before the MarylandĀ resident’s corner threw in the towel.
Leading up to the technical knockout, the Long Islander used a barrage of punches to knock down the GhanaĀ native twice in the first two rounds.
“I’m excited I got the stoppage,” Vargas told GreaterPatchogueĀ following the fight. “I’ve been waiting for that since my first fight.”
After the fight, the 23-year-old looked into the crowd where he saw a sea of red in the standsā an entire section of the audience sporting Alex “El Toro” Vargas t-shirts.
“It is an amazingĀ feeling to know that you have that support,” said Vargas. “It gives me that excitementĀ to put on a show.”
