The summer’s second installment of Alive After Five in Patchogue Village drew an estimated 25,000 people downtown Thursday evening.
That figure surpassed last year’s surprising record of 21,000 by nearly 20 percent.
The four-part festivals, run by the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce, are in their 15th year.
Before last year, the average attendance for a single event was about 10,000 people, according to the chamber’s executive director, David Kennedy, who addressed the Village Board after last year’s big tally.
“These are all numbers that our security tells us; they have their methods they use,” Kennedy told the board last year of the 21,000.
Reached Thursday night, Kennedy said he was “amazed” to have such record crowds.
“And with no serious issues,” he added. “Patchogue should be proud.”
