Amagansett woman injured in hit-and-run, W. Babylon teen arrested

|

An Amagansett woman was seriously hurt Friday when police say a teenage driver struck her in a Montauk Highway crosswalk and then drove off.

East Hampton Town Police said Alexandra Liveris, 39, was crossing Montauk Highway on Nov. 14 when she was struck by a 2016 Chevrolet SUV driven by 18-year-old Brianna Becci of West Babylon.

Becci left the scene, police said, but officers located her a short time later. Liveris was treated at the scene by the Amagansett Fire Department and taken to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, where she is listed in stable condition.

Police charged Becci with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury, having an unrestrained passenger under 17 in the vehicle, and several registration and insurance violations.

She was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to return to East Hampton Town Justice Court on Nov. 26.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact East Hampton Town Police at 631.537.7575.
