At 119-3, Garden City coach Dave Ettinger earns one Giant honor

|

Another milestone has been added to Garden City football coach Dave Ettinger’s remarkable résumé.

Ettinger has been named the 2025 New York Giants High School Coach of the Year, an honor that caps off yet another dominant season for the Trojans.

“I was surprised for sure when I found out,” Ettinger told Greater Long Island.

The recognition comes after Garden City wrapped up its sixth straight undefeated season and captured its fifth straight Long Island Championship, extending a run that no program has matched. No team in Long Island history has won more than three consecutive LICs.

Under Ettinger, the Trojans are riding a 66-game winning streak, the longest active streak in the nation.

Despite the individual accolade, Ettinger was quick to credit those around him.

“Football is the greatest team sport ever created, and coaching is truly a collective effort,” Ettinger said. “I’m honored to share this award with my entire team and staff.”

Since taking over the program 11 years ago, Ettinger has compiled an astonishing 119–3 record, with Garden City suffering just three losses over more than a decade of dominance.
