‘At Home’ stores on Long Island not closing as company restructures

Patio furniture, cushions, area rugs, fall decor and Christmas lights.

They all still await Long Islanders “At Home.”

Despite filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, the home décor superstore says it’s business as usual at its Bohemia and East Northport locations.

An At Home representative on Wednesday directed GLI to these court documents that confirm the company’s lone two Long Island stores will remain open — as neither were listed among the 26 locations slated for closure.

The national chain announced a voluntary restructuring earlier this month.

The move is part of a broader effort to strengthen its finances and transition ownership, according to a June 15 press release.

“At Home expects to continue operating its stores and online platform without disruption,” the company said in a statement on its restructuring site. “Customers can continue to shop with confidence, knowing they’ll receive the same great value and wide selection.”

Two nearby stores in Rego Park and the Bronx will close, however. The Plano, Texas-based company operates more than 250 stores across 40 states and bills itself as one of the largest home and holiday décor retailers in the country.

According to the press release, At Home has entered into a “restructuring support agreement” with lenders representing nearly 85 percent of its outstanding term loan. As part of the agreement, the company will facilitate a sale to a new ownership group led by current lender and investment firm FS/KKR Advisor, LLC.

CEO Lee Bird said the plan allows At Home to shed some of its debt while maintaining operations and setting the business up for long-term success.

“We are taking steps that will enable At Home to meaningfully strengthen our financial position and ensure the business is well-capitalized for the future,” Bird said in a statement. “We remain as committed as ever to our mission of enabling everyone to make their house a home.”

The company also secured $200 million in new financing to support day-to-day operations during the bankruptcy process.

At Home has said it will continue evaluating underperforming locations.

The Bohemia store is located at 3050 Veterans Memorial Highway. The East Northport location is at 4097 Jericho Turnpike.

More updates are expected in the coming weeks as the court process moves forward.
