Fire Island day-trippers and homeowners will have a new restaurant to enjoy this summer.
Jon Randazzo, owner of several businesses in Ocean Beach on Fire Island, recently told GreaterBayShore he is moving his restaurant Castaway Bar & Grill into a new space.
Castaway is making the move from 310 Bay Walk on the west side of the village to the old Bocce Beach at 927 Evergreen Walk. The new and improved Castaway debuts at its new location on April 15 — just in time for its 15th birthday.
In place of the old Castaway space, he is opening up a venture called Taco Beach. This new spot will serve authentic tacos and other Mexican dishes to locals and summer tourists.
Randazzo said he was inspired to launch this idea after the well-received Taco Tuesdays at Castaway.
“It’s not so much Tex-Mex, we’re trying to go for that authentic feel, but still a fun, inviting atmosphere,” he said. “I try to make sure it’s good for everybody because we have so many different types of people that come there from all over the place.”
He plans on debuting Taco Beach sometime mid-May.
