Babylon Village approves street closure for spring shopping and dining event

|

Mark your calendars, Babylonians.

A new springtime event has been approved for the Village of Babylon.

The Babylon Village Spring Shop & Dine is set for Saturday, April 10, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (There’s a rain date set for April 17.)

During that time, the streets will be closed on Deer Park Avenue from Main Street to Park Avenue, allowing local shops and restaurants to expand their businesses into the streets for the day.

There will be no non-Babylon Village business present at this event, said Kelly Peckholdt, head of the Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce, which is co-sponsoring the outing with the Village of Babylon.

“The focus is on supporting our local businesses” said Peckholdt.

Opportunities to win big prizes from shopping and dining in town are planned too, added Peckholdt.

“Spend a minimum of $50 at participating shops and restaurants, and receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a huge #DiscoverBabylon gift basket donated by village merchants,” Peckholdt wrote in a release.

Make sure to check out the chamber’s Facebook page to see which businesses will be participating in the grand prize giveaway.

Also, come back to GreaterBabylon.com to see out photo coverage from the day.
