Update: Due to impending bad weather this weekend, the Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce decided to postpone its St. Patrick’s Day Winterfest.
The new date is set for April 2.
This is the second time the Winterfest had to be moved.
The event will still happen from noon-5 p.m. Deer Park Avenue will be closed from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. from Main Street to Park Avenue.

Another Long Island community is joining in on the St. Patrick’s Day fun this coming weekend.
Babylon Village will host its first-ever St. Patrick’s Day Winterfest, downtown on Saturday, March 12, from noon-5 p.m. Deer Park Avenue will be closed from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. from Main Street to Park Avenue to make way for the festival.
“The Restaurant Committee board had been chatting with Mayor Mary Adams about just some potential ideas for the year, ways to get the community involved, and we loved the idea of doing a winter festival with a St. Patrick’s Day twist,” said Kelly Peckholdt, vice president of the Babylon Chamber of Commerce.
Hibernian bagpipers and Irish step dancers will kick off the event’s festivities, Peckholdt said, before they head over to the Bay Shore St. Patrick’s Day parade the same day.
Throughout the festival, attendees can expect a variety of family friendly activities and plenty of food. The event will feature live music, bouncy houses, a kids scavenger hunt, a craft table, a petting zoo and food trucks.
There will also be live ice sculpture demonstrations by Guinness World Record ice carver Rich Daly from Ice Memories, Inc., who Peckholdt said also pre-made ice creations for some of the local businesses to display during the festival.
Peckholdt added that face painter Joanie Baloney is back after having to put her services on hold due to COVID-19.
Attendees should either park in the surrounding municipal lots or park outside of the village and walk to the festival.
Unlike Bay Shore’s St. Patrick’s Day party, Babylon Village will not have a parade component in their festival, Peckholdt said.
In case of inclement weather, a rain date is set for March 19.
“Our businesses are excited and we’ve seen a pretty good response from the community so far,” she added. “We’re hoping for a good turnout and that any winter weather holds off.”
