E-Bike rider hospitalized after slamming into Dodge in Baldwin

An e-bike rider is hospitalized in stable condition after suffering head injuries in a crash with a car in Baldwin.

Nassau Police said the crash happened Tuesday at 5:43 p.m. when a 57-year-old man was speeding an e-bike north on Dorlon Place, police said.

The man, who police have not identified, turned right onto Steele Boulevard and struck a 2005 Dodge driven by a 55-year-old man, cops said.

The e-bike rider suffered head trauma and was taken to a nearby hospital. The Dodge driver remained at the scene.

The crash comes amid a broader spike in e-bike-related injuries across Long Island.

In Suffolk, authorities have ramped up enforcement under a new law that took effect this year, with police authorized to confiscate e-bikes and issue fines up to $7,300 for violations, while Nassau has deployed its Strategic Response Group to address similar concerns.

Police also did not release the name of the driver in Tuesday’s wreck in Baldwin.
