Downtown Bay Shore’s streets were filled with the likes of super heroes, princesses, witches, and zombies Saturday for the annual Haunted Halloween Festival.

The festivities began with a 4 p.m. parade on Main Street followed by a children’s costume competition, pumpkin decorating, face painting and other family activities at the band shell.

There was also a haunted walk filled with spooky decorations at the community garden from 6 to 9 p.m.

“This particular event has been so wonderful and we’re happy to supply it for Bay Shore,” said Tiana Christoforidis, the cultural arts director at the Great South Bay YMCA, an event co-sponsor. “We feel it’s really bringing the community together.”

Vendors and restaurants such as Salt & Barrel and AJ’s Gourmet Grilled Cheese also lined the street.
