Life just got a little easier for this Bay Shore couple.
This fall, David Paterno and Linda Russell won a cool $1 million thanks to a second-place prize in the New York State Lottery’s “Mega Millions” game.
The drawing was held on Oct. 2.
Their ticket matched the first five numbers drawn, which were 9-38-47-49-68. The last number they needed was 25 for the Mega Ball.
“We put the ticket in a safe when we realized it was a winner,” said Russell. “Unbelievable feeling and strange at the same time.”
The two purchased the winning ticket at the Shore Stationary & Gifts on Howells Road in Bay Shore.
They opted to receive their prize as a one-time lump sum payment and will split it equally.
So the net check, after taxes and withholdings, amounts to exactly $335,900 each.
