If you’re a huge theater fan, chances are you’ll be watching the Tony Awards this weekend.
And if you’re a Bay Shore person, you just might see a familiar face.
Krisbel Brenes Sandi, a 2013 Bay Shore High School graduate, has been selected to perform on stage for the 71st annual installment of the award show.
The Tony Awards airs live at 8 p.m. Sunday, June 11., on CBS.
Actor Kevin Spacey is hosting.
“This opportunity just came up,” Brenes Sandi said. “It’s really incredible and I can’t believe it.”
After applying via selfie and a short description about herself, Brenes Sandi was informed she was among 1,400 finalists.
“They were looking for ‘cool and funky looking people,'” she explained.
She was unaware she was among the chosen few until noon Monday.
“I was waiting and waiting all day long,” said Brenes Sandi, “Then I got the news that I was going to be performing and I freaked out!”
She doesn’t know what time she’ll be appearing on TV, nor does she know exactly what she’ll be doing.
But, she’ll certainly know more after Friday’s rehearsal in New York.
Brenes Sandi is an actor and dancer who performs in many outlets throughout the city. She stays active in her hometown by choreographing musicals at Bay Shore Middle School.
