Bay Shore’s Corks and Taps to transform into American Standard Whiskey Bar & Grill

Whiskey enthusiasts listen up: Corks and Taps in Bay Shore is set to become the American Standard Whiskey Bar & Grill, courtesy of the Costa Verde Restaurant Group.

Costa Verde, which also operates Verde Kitchen & Cocktails, Coastal Kitchen, Brightwaters Inn, and the upcoming bar Sweet Jane, is partnering with local brothers Jake and Ricky Guadagno for this venture.

“The focus is on American whiskey and bourbon with Southern-inspired food,” said Anthony Tartaglia, co-founder of the Costa Verde Restaurant Group. “We’re going to be a nice restaurant but also a whisky bar that is fun and friendly with really good cocktails and music.”

The American Standard Whiskey Bar & Grill will boast craft cocktails, 24 draft beer lines, and live music, promising a unique drinking and dining experience for locals. Tartaglia said they aim to offer high-end whiskeys that patrons won’t find at every bar, with the selection growing over time.

“We’re going to have as many as we can when we open and grow it from there,” he said.

The bar will also serve fan-favorite cocktails from Costa Verde’s other establishments, such as margaritas. After some minor cosmetic changes, the American Standard Whiskey Bar & Grill plans to open by late spring or early summer at their new location on 53 West Main Street.

“It’s a really great space,” said Tartaglia. “The prior owners built it out beautifully about 7 or 8 years ago. They had a really great run, but they were looking to move on to different things.”

Tartaglia believes the Bay Shore area is lacking in quality whiskey bars and is excited about the new venture. “We’re going to be a nice restaurant but also a whiskey bar that is fun and friendly with really good cocktails and music,” he said.
