Local Burger Co. was announced Thursday as one of the 10 finalists in Long Island Pulse Magazine’s Great Burger Battle.
Patties and buns & more from Bay Shore’s own burger joint on East Main Street will be competing against nine other Long Island restaurants Aug. 14 in Patchogue’s Shorefront Park.
Exactly what burger Local Burger will be serving is being kept a secret, said co-owners Alyssa Martino
“We don’t want to tip our hand to the competition,” she said.
Martino has attended the Great Burger Battle in the park as a spectator, and said she’s especially excited to be returning as a participant.
“It’s just a good thing for all of Long Island,” she said. “Burgers are on the rise and it’s fun to have a big festival and for everyone to be a part of it. We have some great fans and supporters who came out and voted, so now we can’t let them down.
“We gotta go out and cook the best burger.”
The first three rounds of the Long Island battle royalé took place online.
Pulse started the first round of voting with 50 restaurants and narrowed it down to 25 in the second round.
More than 2,500 votes were cast from the second to third round.
